Is your child graduating this year?  The time seems to go by so fast. It often seems like only yesterday that our graduates started kindergarten.  Now they are graduating high school and will be off to college by fall.  It’s important to preserve and document those special final moments of high school in a graduation scrapbook.

You may already have a school scrapbooking album for your child, but high school graduation memories can fill an entire scrapbook.  Dedicate one album for this special occasion.  It doesn’t need to be a large album, but one that can accommodate professional portraits might be important if you plan to include the sittings for senior pictures.

Senior pictures deserve a special place in any graduation album.  Your student’s senior pictures are usually dominate the summer before his senior year.  Choose your favorite pose and use that for the title page of your scrapbook album.

Preparing a scrapbook for high school and memories doesn’t have to be difficult.  Take a copy of your child’s graduation announcement and showcase it on a page layout.  Don’t forget to include cards and letters from family and friends.  Highlight ones with graduation advice.  Include a special letter from you with a personal message to your child.  Tell him your hopes and dreams for the future along with things you wish you would have been told on graduation day.

If your child is receiving a special award or honor at the graduation ceremony, be sure to design a page to highlight this accomplishment.  Once the graduation is over, either include the original certificate in the album or make a copy.

If your child is giving a speech at the graduation ceremony, take some photographs of the graduate preparing and practicing the speech.  Preserve his notes including any drafts and use them on a scrapbook page.

Check your local newspaper for coverage of the graduation ceremony.  Include clips and articles for a scrapbook page.  Make a copy of any congratulations announcements made in the newspaper.  Because newspaper articles fade over time, it’s important to make copies to preserve them.

Graduation is full of photo opportunities. Think about the photos you want in your child’s graduation scrapbook, and make a list before the celebration starts.  Pictures of the ceremony are important, but so are photos of your child with his friends, family and teachers.

Include high school mementoes in the scrapbook album.  One page layout should show the graduation ceremony program.  Scrapbook two copies on the page showing both the cover and the inside as much as possible.

Take lots of candid shots during graduation parties.  You may not be attending some of these parties.  So be sure to send along a camera with your graduate and plan to exchange photos with his friends, too.  You’ll have a lot more photos to choose from if you share them.

You’ll definitely want to scrapbook a copy of your graduates final report card or high school transcript.  On the opposite page layout scrapbook a copy of the acceptance letter for the college your child plans to attend.

For the final page of the graduation scrapbook, create a special page layout highlighting a photograph of your child leaving for college.  You could even place a picture of your child on his first day of kindergarten next to a graduation photograph.

It’s easy to create a graduation scrapbook.  It will soon become a family heirloom.  Keep it simple, and remember the most important thing is to scrapbook and document your graduate’s special day.

Even though the economy isn’t great right now, people are just as interested as ever in being able to throw great baby showers for their friends. The key to doing this in a down economy is to cut corners on aspects that won’t be noticeable. There’s no reason that can’t begin with the baby shower invitations and move right on through the shower decorations and the scrapbooks created after the fact.

One method for doing that is to use good free baby shower clipart. Very often there are stylish images available on the web for no charge. Just enter the search term “free baby clip art” and the type of image you want. For example, if you want pink baby girl clip art, type those words or some variation. The same will work with virtually any theme you can think of, although the more obscure the concept, the less likely it will be that you’ll get enough good search results. If when you search you can locate images that have high resolution, you’ll open up more options for using it. That’s because print projects such as invitations or decorations require high resolution images. You certainly wouldn’t want to use low-resolution clip art because the end result won’t be clear. That would, of course, be unacceptable for baby shower decorations or invitations.

But clipart isn’t the only baby art resource you can find free online. You can also find many sites online that offer free baby scrapbook papers. A scrapbook is one way of showing your father how his presence has influenced your life. This scrapbook will be treasured more than an expesive gift because you have made this scrapbook with your father in mind and this will leave a long lasting impression unlike most gifts.

You can choose many different thems for your Father’s Day Scrapbook. The the scrapbook theme include your father’s life from childhood? Are you going to center on the learning and effect of your father in your life? What is your dads favorite hobby? Can you make some type of graphic for your scrapbook that will capture the theme of his hobby? Let us say that your father is a fishing enthusiast, you can probably have fishing tools as background images. If he is a baseball fan then maybe something about his favorite team can be an underlying theme.

You can then start purchasing the materials that you are going to need to create the scrapbook. Here are some tips to help you get organized:

·Have a spread of photos of your dad whether alone, with the family or with other people. Select the best ones for your scrapbook. These would be the photos that highlight an important event in your dad’s life or those that convey your emotions about your father.

You want to limit your page to about 3 colors because too many colors will leave your page looking too busy. You want to select colors that match the photos that you are using in the scrapbook page. Placing odd colors with photos can make the picture clash with the background and you want to keep your colors working together. If you know your father’s favorite colors then this can be used.

·Choose one photo that is to be the focal point of the scrapbook. This can be a solo shot of your father. It can be a studio shot. An outdoor photo is also a good center piece.

·Highlight the main picture. You can mat the image by having a wider border or another color which will stand out from the rest.

·Add journaling to your scrapbook page. Place a comment or caption about what the photo is, where it was made, what happened, etc. This will make the scrapbook more interesting.

·Arrange the elements of the scrapbook in a way that does not crowd the page.  Many people will create scrapbook pages that are full of pictures and make the page look more like a photo album.  This is not the look that you want if you are trying to create a scrapbook.. A page that is covered in many pictures may crowed the page leaving the viewer overwhelmed.

·Place embellishments on your page – stickers, die cuts, rubber stamps and punches. You do want to be careful not to overpower the images on the page.

Consider asking other family members to provide photos and include their own journal along with the picture they supply. Involve all the special people in your father’s life to make the scrapbook have more meaning.
